| The realization of nuclear fusion reactor are expected to bring the ultimate energy
for mankind. At present Japan is playing the leading role in the field of the research
and development of the nuclear fusion with the USA, EC and USSR.
Naka Fusion Research Establishment of Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, which was
set up in our town in April of 1985, has been acting as the ceneter of research and
development of nuclear fusion in Japan. In as vast as 1.3 million square meters of it's
site, JT-60, oneof the three largest tokamaks in the world is under operation. This device
achieved its object of critical plasma experiment in 1987.
Now the advanced experiment with JT-60 proceeds simulating the reactor relevant plasma.
The research and development for fusion in the Naka Establishment are steadily
progressed to realize the reactor plasma condition and the reactor engineering, paying
thoughtful attention to environmental safety. |
