SCIRSA (Obninsk Sister Cities and International Relations Support Organization) received a grant from the Eurasia Foundation for the project "Information and Telecommunication Support of the International Cooperation of Non-Profit Organizations". Under this grant we were to develop computer databases on Obninsk and Oak Ridge non-government, non-profit organizations (NGO) and international foundations, publish two bulletins about these organizations, their cooperation, projects, telecommunication, etc. The idea of this project is primarily to facilitate the dialog and cooperation between NGO of Obninsk and Oak Ridge . We will also provide Obninsk NGOs with free e-mail services.

CINV TV, Obninsk, Russia would like to establish contacts with the Community Television of Oak Ridge and other TV companies working in the Oak Ridge area.

CINV is a commercial station broadcasting in a meter range. The range of their broadcast is 20 miles. It covers Obninsk and several surrounding counties. The company was established in 1992. The company makes its own programs, local news, commercials. They also broadcast the programs of the Independent Broadcasting Network (a network uniting similar companies in the former Soviet Union).

CINV is interested in the permanent information exchange with local or other stations. CINV is pleased to invite 2-3 representatives of TV companies to Obninsk for 1-2 weeks and is ready to pay for their hotel and meals here.

IPPE Tennis Club would like to establish contacts with the Oak Ridge Tennis Club. IPPE Tennis Club operates tennis courts in a picturesque part of Obninsk. Their courts are considered to be among the best in this country. They held two tournaments this year: Golden Ring of Russia (140 children participated), Open Cup of Kaluga Region (both adults and children).

They are interested in:

Exchange during the summer of 1997 (tennis players over 10 or adults)

Organizing a Russian-American tournament in Obninsk

Doll Museum of Obninsk would like to establish contacts with Oak Ridge Area Doll Club. Dolls Museum was established in 1994. The main areas of its activity are:

- Doll Museum

- Hall of Alexander Pushkin's (the greatest Russian poet and writer) fairy tales.

- Puppet theater Shops where dolls are made The museum organizes holidays for the children, shows and exhibitions. Special exhibitions of the doll collectors are held.

They would like to exchange information, share experience, exchange dolls and exhibitions

Regional Childrens Association "Union of Friends" would like to develop contacts with several Oak Ridge organizations. The Union was established in 1983.

Among the projects realized by the Union the following could be mentioned:

- Hiking tours and camps The participants stay in tents for 5 days.

 

- Environmental camp on the river Protva. Tours along the Protva. Visit

Pafnuty-Borovsk - Monastery. The participants are trained by special coaches. Environmental studies.

 

- Adventures Festival. Show-competition for teams and individuals. Unbelievable!Adventures on the river and ashore, in the mountains and grottos, in reality and fantasy.

 

- Expeditions, field camps.

 

- Archeological camp. Archeological excavations in Moscow Region.

 

- Speleology Camp Karaby (Crimea). It's a combination of a hiking tour, climbing mountains, speleology tour and rest on the Black Sea coast.

 

- Horseback Riding Club. Located on the banks of the Protva river.

The union would like to establish contacts with several Oak Ridge nongovernmental organizations with similar interests.

Protva-Prin possesses a unique intellectual technology of analysis and upgrading of a system of any type and of solving most complicated problems. Presently, several large American corporations (Motorola, Kodak, Procter and Gamble) purchased and use the software based on this technology. Children's Environmental Team Bemby would like to establish contacts with the Oak Ridge Children's Museum. Bemby operates Children's Museum of Nature established on December 24, 1993. The museum was established under the assistance of ISAR foundation and the City of Obninsk. Children participated in the decoration of the museum. The museum disseminates environmental knowledge (talks, lectures and discussion for the children between 6 and 14). It has a number of natural exhibits, organizes exhibitions of the children's works. Museum was visited by American and Canadian guests.

The Museum would offer the other Children's Museums an exchange of exhibits, slides, videos, pictures.
