Participation Policy for ParentsThe main difference between PCK and other childcare centers is the involvement of families. Family participation helps strengthen and maintain the existing program and ensures the ongoing assessment and improvement of our operation. Because we are a not-for-profit organization we depend on families to contribute to the program in a varity of ways. In order to ensure the continuance of small class sizes and a quality program at an affordable price, all families are expected to contribute cooperative hours to PCK. While family participation is critical to the success of the center, it has the benefit of creating an educational community where families know each other and form relationships. Preshool program members must complete 4 hours of service each month or a fee of $5 for each uncompleted hour will be added to your bill. These hours can be done all at once or a few minutes here and there. These participation hours may be done in the school or outside of the center. Please record your hours in the participation record book as you complete them so that the director can have a current recordof your participation prior to the invoices being created. Your active participation is a requirement of your membership in PCK and a requirement of the three-star center program. Participation IdeasLaundry - receive an hour coop time for each load of laundry washed for the school. Recycling - PCK recycles plastic, metal, and paper. The recycling center is located at the Kroger less than two miles away. Kroger Program - Each month families can purchase Kroger gift cards for groceries. PCK gets 15% of the money put toward this program. Receive an hour for participating. Landscaping - Our playground and entrance need constant attention. If you like the outdoors you can earn hours. Work Days - Each quarter PCK hosts a work day at the school to update the facility. Board Meeting - Attending a board meeting counts toward one hour of coop time. Parent Workshops - Attending parent workshops hosted by PCK counts toward one hour of coop participation. Fundraising - PCK is always looking for ways to raise money for the center. Earn coop hours while helping PCK in a very important way. Classroom Volunteer - Help out in your child's class. Ask your teacher what they need for projects or help on a feild trip. Look on the Coop Hours Board located in the office for specific needs each week. |
