Pellissippi District
2005 Fall Camporee
The Great Raft Adventure
September 16-18, 2005
|
Introduction
- The Camporee Committee and numerous volunteers have spent many hours putting together your camporee. We appreciate your comments, suggestions, and participation. Your feedback is vital in our continuing effort to give Scouts a quality program each spring and fall.
- The Scout Oath and Law will guide all activities and individual behavior. Unit Leaders are urged to maintain discipline at the Unit level. Observe the Outdoor Code and Low Impact Camping rules.
Logistics
- The 2005 Pellissippi District Fall Camporee will be held at Norris Dam State Park on the scenic Clinch River. Troops will be given a map of where to launch and disembark the river. The Camporee staff will have adult volunteers on the river in boats to ensure safety.
The Challenge
- Construct a completely homemade raft, using no manufactured boat hulls. Prepare to ride your raft on the waters of the Clinch River with attention to safety of crew and full awareness of environmental care to the river.
Will your raft be the BEST?
Aim to consider: Buoyancy, Efficiency, Speed, Teamwork
- Judges will be elected and prizes will be awarded to each category for Construction and Design, Aesthetics, and Team Spirit.
- Please note that the Scout Patrols will be judged the entire time that they are in the vicinity of the event. This includes their approach, their departure from the event, and their conduct on the river.
- Leaders may be requested to help assist in grading other Patrols. The Patrol method and Scout spirit during the raft adventure will be a significant portion of the score.
