Hello,
Here is an opportunity to do some volunteer work, learn about invasive plants and cedar barren ecology, and meet some new people. TCWP has partnered with TVA to take care of the Worthington Cemeterey Greenbelt and celebrate National Public Lands Day for about 10 years. I hope you can find some time to help us out on Saturday morning. Thanks.
Jimmy

Subject: [TCWP] Nat'l Public Lands Day Clean up Sept 27
Saturday, September 27-- National Public Lands Day-Worthington Cemetery Clean Up
Come learn about East Tennessee's cedar barrens and wetlands and help remove invasive exotic plants at the TVA's Worthington Cemetery Small Wild Area on the east side of Oak Ridge. Oak Ridge based Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning has sponsored this event for many years. Executive Director Sandra K. Goss commented, "This area depends on us removing exotic pest plants that threaten the native plants."
The cleanup will begin at 9:00 a.m. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothes, and bring water, gloves, and clippers, loppers or shears, if possible. Other tools and equipment will also be available at the worksite. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Elza Gate picnic area near the intersection of Oak Ridge Turnpike and Melton Lake Drive. The workday will conclude around noon with a complimentary pizza lunch.
