Governor Bredesen recently proclaimed February 22-28 as Invasive Weed Awareness Week in Tennessee. In keeping with the Governor's Proclamation, Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning is proud to sponsor a talk and discussion about Native Plant Gardening with Margie Hunter, author of Gardening with the Native Plants of Tennessee. The talk is scheduled for Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the A/B Room at the Oak Ridge Civic Center (1401 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN). The program is free and open to the public. The talk is cosponsored with University of Tennessee Arboretum Society and the Oak Ridge Garden Club

 

Margie is a long-time volunteer at Cheekwood Botanical Garden; she has been gardening for 25 years and has focused on native plants since 1996.  Margie is also a board member of the Tennessee Exotic Pest Plant Council (www.tneppc.org <http://www.tneppc.org/> ). She helps lead hikes at the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage in Gatlinburg each April, and is assisting the development of a Master Naturalist program in Tennessee.
