TENN-SHARE DataFest and Conference

Make plans now to attend the TENN-SHARE DataFest and Fall Conference on September 13 and 14 at Nashville Public Library, held for the third year in conjunction with the Metro Nashville Public Schools Collection Fair.

Your library doesn’t have to be a member of TENN-SHARE for you to participate, BUT let me take a second to remind you that membership renewals are due by September!

The DataFest is our all-day vendor showcase of the latest in electronic resources for libraries. Among those new to the DataFest this year: Discovery Education/United Streaming, Paratext and Rosen Publishing. Favorites from past years include: Alexander Street Press, ProQuest, OCLC and, of course, Gale.

The DataFest, Thursday, September 13, is a free event but we will be asking for registrations so we know how many people to expect. More information coming soon to www.tenn-share.org/?p=111. 

The following day, Friday, September 14, we will take the opportunity to thank Secretary of State Riley Darnell and State Librarian Jeanne Sugg, as well as the key legislators involved, for their success in providing $1 million to expand the TEL databases.

Then TENN-SHARE will present to you our Strategic Plan for 2008-2010. Breakout sessions on each of our strategic goals will allow input from you as well as the opportunity for you to become involved.

After those wonderful boxed lunches from Provence, the afternoon will be devoted to discussion of a true library statewide network – not just the expanded TEL databases, but also federated search in a statewide network, statewide interlibrary loan including all types of libraries, and the ever-expanding Volunteer Voices project.

The Fall Conference registration form is up and ready at www.tenn-share.org/?p=105.  Those of you with slow business offices shouldn’t hesitate! Registration is due September 9, but we would appreciate early registrations.
