Katherine Paterson comes to King

Katherine Paterson ('54)

On Monday, November 12, King College will welcome the return of one of its most distinguished alumni. Internationally recognized children’s author Katherine Paterson (’54) will appear on campus as part of the college’s fall convocation series, “Stories that Connect.” Paterson will speak at 10:30 a.m. and again at 7:45 p.m. in the Student Center Complex. The events are open to the public and free of charge.

Paterson will also sign books in the foyer of the Student Center Complex after both convocations, where a selection of her works will be made available for purchase.

Through a career that now spans three decades, Paterson’s works have repeatedly won the hearts of children and educators. Today, rag-eared, beloved copies of her books such as Bridge to Terabithia, The Great Gilly Hopkins, and Jacob Have I Loved line the bookshelves of libraries and play rooms around the globe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You see, I don't believe that libraries should be drab places
where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason
for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians.
— Monty Python skit
