The TASL conference program is looking really good and I am excited. We
have been working on it since before last conference. On Thursday night at
the Vendor Fair we are going to have two author signing. For the elementary
folk, we have, Mary Anne Frasier, author of the IQ books- IQ visits the
Library, IQ goes to school, etc. For the middle and high school, we have
Newbery Award winning author, Ji-Li Jiang. She wrote Red Scarf Girl.
(Thanks to Alice Bryant, of Harpeth Hall, for sending Ji-Li our way.) Both
of these authors will have their books for sale and will be signing them at
the Vendor Fair only. So make sure you come on Thursday night, to see the
authors and browse the vendors.

On Friday, I don¹t know where to start Sara Kelly Johns, past president of
AASL will speak briefly at the business meeting and will conduct a session.
Our Keynote speaker is Deb Logan. Deb has been a school library media
specialist for nineteen years and her collaborative teaching experiences
range from kindergarten through twelfth grade. These collaborations led to
the writing of her first book, Information Skills Toolkit: Collaborative
Integrated Instruction for the Middle Grades. She has written several other
books and her articles and writings have appeared in various publications.
She will focus on advocacy during the keynote and will give a session on
Students + Evidence=Impact.

We also have:
Marcia Thornton Jones- author of the Adventures of the Bailey School Kids
series

Rob Reid- author of four ALA Editions books: Cool Story Programs for the
School Age Crowd, Something Funny Happened at the Library, Family Storytime,
and Children's Jukebox, as well as articles for Library Sparks, The Shy
Librarian and School Library Journal

This is not all Patty Williams has lined up two authors for the Volunteer
Awards Banquet Sonja Sones and Mary Downing Hahn.

Then on Saturday Will Richardson author of Blogs, Wikis Podcasts, and
Other Powerful Web Tools will be giving our keynote. I read that he,
³Šdemystifies words like "blog," "wiki," and "aggregator" making classroom
technology an easily accessible component of classroom research, writing,
and learning.² That is WHAT I NEED!

But there is moreŠ.. Deborah Wiles, author of Each Little Bird that Sings
and Love Ruby Lavender will be presenting along with storyteller, Mary Jo
Huff and librarian, Deb Logan will present another session on advocacy.

I could go on and on So make sure you register and plan to attend THE
2008 TASL CONFERENCE BE A GUIDING LIGHT AT YOUR LIBRARY.

Also many, many, many, thanks to Becky Jackman for lining up vendors, Bruce
Hester for managing all the details, Brenda Moriarity for giving us ideas
for conference and Lynn Caruthers for being there for us!!!
