"Book Repair"

April 19 – 26, 2008
TASL is offering seven workshops on "Book Repair." These workshops are
designed to demonstrate quick and easy techniques for extending shelf
life on general circulating materials. Prevention is the key, but the
workshops will be addressing specific, common repairs: tipping in
loose pages, broken spines, torn header caps, ripped and torn pages.
The workshops will be held at the following locations:
April 19 – Kingsport – Washington Elementary School 9:00 – 12:00 EST
April 21 – Athens – Westside Elementary School 4:00 – 6:00 EST
April 22 – Manchester – Hillsboro Elementary School 4:00 – 6:00 CST
April 23 – Clarksville – Greenwood Teacher Center 8:00 – 11:00 or
12:00 – 3:00 CST
April 24 – Fairview – Westwood Elementary School 4:00 – 6:00 CST
April 25 – Jackson – Trinity Christian Academy 12:00 – 3:00 CST
April 26 – Cordova – Cordova Public Library 10:00 – 1:00 CST
There will be light refreshments at the workshop. Anyone interested in
going to dinner with Kary afterwards is welcome to come.
TASL members may attend the workshop FREE of charge.
There will be a charge of $20.00 for non-TASL members.
Each participant is asked to bring two paperback books, preferably new
or new-like, to demonstrate covering techniques; a hardbound book with
a book jacket to demonstrate application of book jacket covers; a
stapled book or magazine; a book that needs to have a loose page
tipped in a; and one hardbound book that needs repair. You will also
need to bring a pair of scissors.
Each participant will be provided with a free sample packet of
materials. One lucky attendee will win a book repair kit. There will
be Certificates of Participation available.
