Just a reminder that Kerry Madden will be presenting tonight at the University of Tennessee at 7:00 in the McClung Museum auditorium.
Here is the press release from UT's Center for Children's and Young Adult Literature:
UT's Center for Children and Young Adult Literature is pleased to present noted young adult author Kerry Madden on November 11, 2008, 7 p.m. at the Frank H. McClung Museum, 1327 Circle Park Dr. The event is free and open to the public.
Madden's work focuses on a growing up in Appalachia in the 1960s. Her works include Gentle's Holler, Louisiana's Song, Jesse's Mountain, which tell the story of Livy Two Weem as she takes care of her blind little sister, discovers her talent in painting, and experiences the challenges and joys of growing up in Maggie Valley. Madden has also written a semi-autobiographical novel, Offsides, which tells the story of growing up the daughter of a football coach, and Writing Smarts: a girl's guide to writing great poetry, stories, school reports, and more! Madden is currently working on a biography of Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, for young adults.
I hope to see you there.
