There are lots of conferences with exhibitors but there's only ONE
TennShare DataFest! Here you will see demonstrations of databases by
the experts. Personally, I'm thinking of subscribing to the Grolier
databases. I've used it a bit myself during my trial, but now I want
to see all the bells and whistles I haven't yet found. DataFest is the
place I can do that. Another database I'm not as familiar with as I'd
like to be is Ebsco's Points of View. There'll be a TEL training on it
during DataFest, as well as trainings on several other TEL databases.
And as a new WorldCat subscriber, I plan to learn a lot in those
sessions as well. I also think Greenwood's Pop Culture Universe and
Ebsco's American Government sound like great resources for school
libraries. Oh my goodness...so many resources, so little time!!! Not
to mention FREE!!!
REMEMBER:
The DataFest is Thursday, September 11th at the Nashville Public
Library, in conjunction with the Metro Nashville Collection
Development Fair...2 for the price of one...and it's FREE
Please register online (remember, it’s FREE) at http://www.tenn-share.org/?p=148
There's a complete vendor/product list and schedule on the same web site
We'll have free refreshments, morning and afternoon, courtesy of the
participating vendors
Don’t forget to stick around for the tour of NPL digitization
facilities at 5:00, the Gala Reception at 5:30 (more food and fun!),
and come back for the Fall Conference on Friday (more info on web
site: http://www.tenn-share.org/)
Did I mention that it's FREE? (We poor school librarians never have
money...at least I don't! How can your principal/head turn this down?)
I'll be looking for all my school colleagues and cohorts at the
TennShare DataFest next Thursday!
