Hello Librarians!
We have heard back from some of you regarding attending our Librarian Academy on March 13th. We are really excited to be able to offer this opportunity. Please spread the word to any librarian who may not be receiving these emails. We look forward to seeing you all on March 13th.
HOTEL:
I have received several emails regarding hotel accommodations. We generally recommend the Double Tree Hotel in Jackson, TN on the HWY 45 Bypass 731-664-6900.
We do have a local motel - The Executive Inn 731-686-3345
PREPARING FOR THE ACADEMY:
One of our presenters is Ms. Melissa Moore from Union University. She has provided several workshops and presentations, including the first Librarian Academy here in August with great reviews.
She is asking that all participants prepare for this workshop:
"(1) bring one copy of their favorite library lesson, the one they love to teach, and be prepared to share it with others; (2) read the Newbery book which was just awarded a few weeks ago, entitled THE GRAVEYARD BOOK by Neil Gaiman, and bring it with them to the workshop prepared to discuss it; and (3) bring the titles of any books they're read in the past year which they want to tell others about."
In case you did not receive it already, the original invitation email is below:
Announcing the second Librarian Academy Workshop on March 13th at Milan Middle School from 8:00 til 3:00. All librarian/media specialists and library assistants are invited and encouraged to come.
Attached is a flyer/registration form. We are charging a small fee ($20) to help cover the expenses. I have also attached a document containing comments from the first Academy held last summer.
We are excited to have Ms. Melissa Moore from Union University coming back again. We also have Ms. Sue Maszaros, Special Projects Coordinator, TN State Library and Archives here to discuss the enhancements to the Tennessee Electronic Library website.
We are not providing lunch, but we will be making reservations at the Garden Pleasures Tea Room again. Refreshments will be available beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Thank you in advance for allowing and encouraging your librarian to attend. Please do not hesitate to contact me for additional information.
