I have been asked at various conferences in the past to create an interactive list for the Volunteer State Books Awards so that readers (librarians and perhaps students) can discuss the nominated titles. I have created three bookshelves on goodreads.com for the three divisions for 2008-2009.
If you are not a member of join goodreads.com, you will have to register. Once you have registered, you can edit your profile and then locate the three groups. To find those groups, click on "groups" at the top of the goodreads banner. Then search "find groups"
for "Volunteer State Book Awards" and join the book group. The groups are open to anyone. You may rate the books, post reviews, and start discussion threads. Keep in mind that goodreads is considered a social networking site and might be filtered at your school.
I will create book groups for 2009-2010 VSBA nominees this weekend.
Take care
