[Tasl] TEL Losing THE TENNESSEAN

NewsBank has sent the following statement to us:
 
"Due to the economic situation in libraries currently and the high costs associated with continuing the Gannett newspapers, NewsBank has elected to not continue with the Gannett owned newspapers as we feel the costs required to continue would exceed the market's ability to pay for these titles.  As a result, ProQuest will have exclusive rights to these titles, including The Tennessean effective July 1, 2009."
 
We have received a quote from ProQuest (through Lyrasis working on our behalf) to continue The Tennessean in TEL, but it is with sincere regret that we find it is not within our budget to be able to purchase the subscription. 
 
That means that effective July 1, 2009, The Tennessean will no longer be provided through TEL.  
 
We had hoped our negotiations would provide success, but with the deadline rapidly approaching, we need to back away and allow time for you to begin your own subscription.
