Arts Academy Drama Classes Designed to Assist Regular Elementary Classroom
Teachers & Librarians!!!

This summer at the Tennessee Arts Academy, nationally recognized faculty
from across the country will help guide regular classroom teachers and
librarians on ways to super-charge their lessons with unique teaching
strategies and innovative learning methods.

These outstanding classes are designed to specifically help the non-arts
teacher enhance learning across the curriculum through the use of applied
drama techniques. Each class will assist teachers in developing new and
creative approaches to teaching language arts, math, science and social
studies.

Participants attend three specialized theatre sessions each day. This year's
workshops feature classes in puppetry, storytelling and creative drama.
More than that, there are daily performances, guest speakers, and plenty of
sharing time. Participants receive over $100.00 worth of free teaching
materials. It is truly a wonderful and awe-inspiring week.

No arts background or prior drama training is needed to attend. Don't miss
out! The Academy session for Grades K-6 will be held on the Belmont
University campus in Nashville July 12-17, 2009. The entire week, including
tuition and most meals is only $195.00. On-campus housing is available for a
nominal additional fee. Please go to our WEB site (tennesseeartsacademy.org)
in order to submit the easy to use online application form. Be sure to
choose <<Elementary/Lower Middle: Theatre>> when you are asked to select a
grade level and concentration area. The application deadline is March 1,
2009.

Feel free to write (taa at mail.belmont.edu) or call (615-460-5451) if you need
additional information or help. If you are unable to attend, please pass
this on to all interested classroom teachers, specialists, and librarians in
your school. Thanks and we hope to see you and other teachers from your
school with us this summer.

You see, I don't believe that libraries should be drab places
where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason
for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians.
