Thanks Nancy! I was so impressed with Sara Kelly Johns last year when she came to TASL. That's wonderful that she's running for ALA President.
I also enjoyed the blog Dianne de Las Casas. She did a great job highlighting your tour of Nashville. By the way, if you noticed the beautiful entrance to the Nashville Public Library, the mother and child on the front doors are a teacher friend of mine and her adopted daughter, Gail and Mariah!

Subject: [Tasl] Great news!
I just found out today that Sara Kelly Johns will be running for ALA
President in the election this spring. Sara came to our conference last year
and was the President of AASL in 2007-08. I think she has a great chance of
winning the election. It has been quite some time since a school librarian
held this office (I thought never, but SLJ says a school librarian from AK
was ALA Pres in 98).
It is vitally important that we work our hardest to get Sara elected. If we
ever needed a strong voice at ALA, the time is now! If you join ALA by Dec.
31, you can vote in the election which will be held in March and April. I
will be sending out lots of reminders to vote when the time comes. The
percentage of AASL voters is very low. We need to let our voices be heard!
I'm really pumped about this possibility. Sara is a very outgoing, popular
person at ALA conferences. She loves everybody and everybody loves her! But
she will need our votes, too!

P. S. You must see Dianne de Las Casas' blog. She wrote about her visit to
my school, her conference experience, and our tour of Nashville on Sat.
afternoon. Great pictures! http://storyconnection.net/blog/2009/09/
