I. Community Comadre Pre- and Postnatal Home Visiting ProgramGoal: To improve the maternal and infant health outcome for settled and seasonal
farmworkers in Hamblen, Jefferson and Unicoi Counties.
Services provided include:
II. COA Breast Health/Breast Cancer Education Program
Goals: Improve awareness of breast health/breast cancer
for 600+ Hispanic residential, seasonal and migrant farmworker
women in Hamblen, Jefferson, Cocke, Grainger, Knox, and
Loudon Counties and to increase access to free or low-cost
screening mammograms, diagnostic, and treatment services
for Hispanic women 35 years and older in these East Tennessee
counties.
III. COA AIDS/HIV Education ProgramGoal: Decrease the incidence of AIDS/HIV in East Tennessee's
farmworker population through the provision of AIDS/HIV
education, referral to counseling and testing, translation,
and transportation services.
IV. TAPS: Teens for AIDS/HIV Prevention Services
Goal: To reach high school students using peer counselors
teaching AIDS/HIV education.
Goal: Decrease the incidence of substance abuse, DUI, and
domestic violence in the Hispanic community.
VI. Hispanic Health & FunFest
Goals: Increase the health outcome and well-being of
the farmworker community through increased access to
healthcare and social services agencies as well as
existing community programs that would benefit
the community. Another goal is to promote
appreciation of cultural diversity.
