FPS Library Policy

When can my child visit the library?

Farragut Primary School library operates on an open-access policy. This system allows students to use the library based on their individual needs and to support the curriculum of the school in a more effective and consistent manner. In addition to visiting the library any day he/she needs to check out a book, your child will come with his/her class for a reading experience once a month. Additional visits will be made when your child's teacher schedules her class to use the electronic resources of our 21st-century library.

How many books may my child check out?

Kindergarten children may check out one book.

First-grade students may check out one book until they begin checking out
Rookie Reader books. At that time, they may check out two books.

Any kindergarten or first-grade students who is a member of Finley's Reading Club
may check out two books.

Second-grade students may check out two books.

How long can my child keep his/her book?

Circulation is for one week.

Does Farragut Primary School Library charge fines?

No fines are charged, but Knox County policy requires that payment be made for a lost or damaged book. Please help your child take care of his/her library book by setting aside a "special place" at home just for FPS Library books.
