It is never too early to begin reading to your child!!

Nursery rhymes can be a child's introduction to reading. You may visit the Mother Goose Page on the world-wide web for an extensive collection of nursery rhymes.

An excellent guide for parents wishing to share their love of reading with their children is Jim Trelease's Read-Aloud Handbook. Copies are available in our library for parents to check out . A website with a reading guide is also available from this site.

Each year the American Library Association gives the Caldecott Award for the best picture book published in the United States. A list of these books is available on the Children's Literature Web Guide. Other award-winning books can be found here. A reading list by grades is available here.

The titles in Finley's Reading Club could serve as a guide for selecting books to read with your child. The list is available both at our library and at the Farragut Branch Library so that it can be used as a source for selecting good books when you visit there.
