Frank Sewell- Executive Director

Frank was employed with Anderson County Government for 32 years. For the past 15 years, he was the Solid Waste Director. He is now retired from Anderson County. While working with the Solid Waste Office, Frank implemented multiple recycling programs for residents of Anderson County. These ranged from increasing the number of items to be recycled to providing assistance with the State of Tennessee’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. Frank is a certified State of Tennessee Landfill Operator.

Frank has always been environmentally aware. While attending Oak Ridge High School, he assisted with the planning and executing of the First Earth Day Celebration event if 1970.Frank enjoys playing drums and riding his motorcycle.  Frank has been on the KRC’s Board of Directors for 5 years, so we are happy to have him here.

Traci Black- Office Paper Manager
I grew up in Louisville, KY and have lived in Knoxville since 1986.  I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Psychology and have provided social service delivery and program management in educational, emergency, mental health and public housing systems.  Before joining the coalition staff in August 2006, I spent nine years studying philosophy, volunteering, and playing with my two children and many animals.  I enjoy music, meditating, and whatever strange juxtapositions present them selves.

Bob Huffman- Purple Paper Eater Driver
I am the longest tenured employee of KRC, having been with the organization since 1994.  I graduated from the University of Tennessee and I’m a veteran, having served during Vietnam.  I was an employee of Rock-Tenn before coming to KRC. I have personally recycled most of the 21 million pounds of paper the program has collected. I am currently the one and only driver of the Purple Paper Eater! Bob likes doing photography, speaking Chinese, and singing (or least we think he does).

Katie Swick – Education Program Manager

I grew up in Maine and received my BA in Anthropology from the University of New Hampshire in 2000. I have completed two years of AmeriCorps National Service- one in Denver, CO and the other here is Knoxville- doing environmental and social/educational work. Last fall I work in the Great Smoky Mountains teaching middle school students about air pollution and soil. I have traveled to Ireland, Britain, Peru and India. In India, I volunteered for the Tibetan Government in Exile writing grants for organic farming projects for refugees in India. I am passionate about people caring for the planet. I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, spending time with my friends, family, and my husband, two cats and our new puppy.

Tiffany Hartung- Box Truck Driver
Tiffany Hartung has been working for non-profits here in Knoxville for quite a few years now. The past two years she was the Regional Coordinator for Tennesseans for Fair Taxation. Before that she was the Community Organizer for four years at Save Our Cumberland Mountains. Tiffany also was the Campus Organizer for Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group in Holyoke, MA. Tiffany has a B.S. Environmental Studies and Applications from  Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Additionally she is certified in Project WILD and Project WET.
Tiffany enjoys riding her bike, helping her husband with his bicycle shop, Tennessee Valley Bicyles, and playing with her dogs.
Even though Tiffany’s main job is truck driver and recycler, her knowledge from past experiences is very welcomed here at KRC. It has already been a pleasure to have her here.

Micah Reynolds- AmeriCorps volunteer
Back in August a CAC AmeriCorps member started his 10-month year of service with KRC. Micah Reynolds will be doing outreach and education  to complete his 1700 hours of service. Micah graduated from Clemson University with a BA in History and a minor in Education. For two years at Clemson, Micah was Assistant in Operations of Clemson’s Recycling Facility. He was also President of the Outdoors Club, leading people on camping trips, at events, and at meetings.
Last summer Micah volunteered with Jonathan Overly at East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition. Micah is the proud driver of an 85 Mercedes that runs on bio-diesel. He is very conscious of the use of using clean fuels, and being energy efficient to help slow global warming.
Recycling and climate change are strong passions of Micah’s and he is good at casually convincing others why they should be too. He has jumped right into “Get Things Done”, right in-suit with the AmeriCorps logo.
If you know of anyone interested in having a presentation on recycling, or have a church or organization in need of a waste audit or info on how to start recycling, give Micah a call. He will be great help. We are very happy to have the privilege of working with CAC to improve recycling in the Knoxville/Knox County area.
