Processing
Recyclables
After collection, recyclables have to be
organized and processed to meet market requirements, which involves the
process of properly cleaning, storing, and shipping the items. These actions are usually
performed in what is a called a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) or
other similar type of facility or warehouse where there is ample room to
prepare the recyclable items.
Below is an example of one of these facilities in Knoxville. This facility accepts many grades
of paper. They sort and
organize the paper and send it off to companies that will use the paper
in making new products.
