Gathered in His Name Since 1952
On May 19, 2002, Redeemer Lutheran Church celebrated its' Fifty
Year Anniversary. On May 19, 1952, Redeemer Lutheran Church was organized with
13 communicant members. The first church home was at the corner of Roane and
Barnett in Harriman, where a groundbreaking ceremony for the first building
was held on September 13, 1952.
Redeemer's first resident pastor, Rudolph Weiser, was installed on
June 19, 1960.
The present church site was purchased on August 2, 1962, and the
current facility was dedicated May 31, 1964, just eight months after a
September 15, 1963 groundbreaking ceremony. Twenty years later, the facility
was expanded with a new education unit dedicated on October 31, 1983.
Extensive renovations to the interior and exterior of the building,
including covering the entire building with stone siding were completed in
1994 and dedicated on October 16, 1994.
Resident pastors of Redeemer at its present location include: Rev.
Wesley H. Ringhardt, Rev. James P. Evers, Rev. Victor A. Atsinger, Rev.
William R. Vogelsang, Jr., Rev. Thomas E. Moyer, and Rev. Michael M. Miller.
