RID 2006 National Coalition Conference

A combination of reports by Doris Aiken and Kelly Dagenhart / ed. by Kelly Dagenhart

You have been active and effective over the years in lowering the slaughter of Americans in impaired crashes. Now all antiDUI organizations need to join forces to say with one voice, what must happen to stop the carnage and the preventable heartbreak that remains, especially since the apparent demise of the National Commission Against Drunk Driving (NCADD).

photo Wrecked CarI invite you who came to the RID National Coalition Confer-ence on May 27 and 28, 2006 in Oak Ridge, TN, and all others who read this to continue the push for solutions. I invite those who came, and those who did not, to purchase the set of five DVDs produced from the video recordings of the conference proceedings. The talks were all hard hitting with new solutions, each covering a different area of the problems. Click here to display printable order form for complete RID Conference Proceedings video recording on multiple DVDs and the list of the topics on each DVD. The cost is $125 for all five, or individual DVDs for $25 each.

The Conference Agenda allowed us to address victims’ rights, new and tested technological developments, what has worked and what needs to be done locally and nationally to deliver life and safety from the irrevocable harm suffered by so many Americans.

National speakers helped us to focus and strengthen our combined message. You heard from John Moulden, retired President of the NCADD, U.S. Representative John Duncan (R-TN), Doris Aiken National RID President and other national speakers and experts.

Most importantly, you were there talking with your colleagues, spreading your knowledge acquired over the years, and knitting yourself into the solid wall of resistance to public apathy and legislative mindset.

My Evaluation of the Conference

The Conference proceedings went well for those that attended. We would have liked to have had more in attendance to take up the charge.

The goal setting call in the Dagenhart/Aiken paper that it is possible to eliminate more than 90% of the DUI problem will hopefully be taken up by all that attended and then spread throughout the anti-DUI community. John Moulden’s very excellent paper presented many specific ways that we can move towards the goal of #2. Great improvements were covered in the legal system for handling DUI problems, that are being made by implementing Drug Court System’s various embodiments which promise great reductions in recidivism and recovery of offender lives.

The Faith Based Mentoring paper presented by Cheryl Czuba from University of Connecticut holds promise for major improvements in rehabilitating offenders and in greatly reducing recidivism by complimenting the legal system.
