Agility/Fitness Program (Rising U11+)
This is a 4-session program that serves as an introduction to soccer conditioning with a focus on strength,
agility and speed work. The goal of the program is to introduce players to exercises that can improve the
many movement skills involved in soccer, like locomotion skills, spatial
awareness, visual awareness, and directional awareness. Strength and agility are incorporated into speed
drills for straight ahead movement, lateral movement, change of direction, reaction and recognition, balance
and body awareness, and some plyometrics. The drills are challenging, but fun. The kids will be given plenty
of opportunity to successfully do each drill by the end of the 4 sessions. Cones, balls, ladders
and circles will be used during the sessions and drill handouts will be provided to interested coaches. SCOR
coaches are welcome at any or all of the sessions and can attend free.
The session will be run by Kate Schult, who has a masters degree in exercise physiology and is certified
through the American College of Sports Medicine. She has coached soccer (AYS0) and has worked with individuals
and teams in sports conditioning over the past 15 years. She works as a trainer full-time and has clinical
experience in injury rehabilitation. She also studied sports nutrition at Fresno State, CA and has assisted
teams in this area. She can also work individually with a team at a coach's request.
Cost of the program is $25 for 4 sessions. Dates are Tuesday August 5, Thursday August 7, Tuesday August 12, and Thursday
August 14 and the sessions will run from 6-7 pm. Location is tentatively set for the Robertsville MS track. Kids should bring
soccer cleats and running shoes.
Email SCOR to register and call Kate at 483-4674 if any questions.
