The Scarboro Day Care Center Staff feels that it is important for
parents to have important information about issues concerning child rearing,
raising healthy children, and keeping children safe. The following Web sites
are ones from which we feel parents can find the information they need in
order to be well-informed.
- The American Academy of Pediatrics is
dedicated to the health of all children and is committed to the attainment of
optimal physical, mental, social health and well-being of all infants,
children, adolescents, and young adults.
- The American Academy of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry assists families and families in understanding
developmental, behavioral, emotional, and mental disorders affecting children
and adolescents.
- The Child Welfare League of America is
the oldest and largest national nonprofit organization developing and
promoting policies and programs to protect America's children and strengthen
America's families.
- Safe Kids is a Web site devoted to
the issues facing families today and is committed to helping parents and other
adults solve the problems of keeping all children safe and secure.
- The Children's Defense Fund
has as its mission to ensure that every child has an even start in life. This
organization has a tremendous network of organizations and individuals
dedicated to the welfare of children everywhere.
- The Black
Community Crusade for Children (BCCC) is an auxiliary unit of the
Children's Defense Fund. Its mission is to assist families in the support and
care of children by helping to provide caring and nurturing
communities.
- Since 1970, The National Black Child
Development Institute has provided and supported prpograms, workshops, and
resources for African-American children, their parents, and their
communities.
- Stand for Children is the nation's
only grassroots voice for children. The local Anderson County chapter is one
of the day care's sponsors and has helped sponsor Freedom School in Oak
Ridge.
