Donna Mosby attended Tennessee Technological University and majored in Home Economics Education. Before coming to the Scarboro Day Care Center in June of 1992, she worked as an Adult Development Director for Tanasi Girl Scout Council and was the Religious Education Director at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Ridge. As Adult Development Director, she was responsible for the day-to-day management of adult training and development of the Tanasi Council. At the Unitarian Church, Mrs. Mosby was responsible for the independent evaluation and application of religious principles necessary to meet the diverse needs of the congregation. She has served as director of the Scarboro Day Care Center for ten years. Under her direction, the day care program has grown to achieve a standard of excellence and continues to provide quality day care for working families.
Ms. Rachel Wanyoike, Lead Preschool Teacher
Rachel Wanyoike is the lead Preschool Teacher. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts. She has spent extensive time in New York and California working with photography and other art forms.She has worked with the Oak Ridge Children's Museum teaching sculpture and oil painting. While in New York, Ms. Wanyoike worked as a trainer for the Hetrick-Martin Institute for at-risk youth. At the institute, she designed lesson plans for the program and ran a weekly support group for the interns. She is committed to children and has a passion for helping others.
Ms. Gwendolyn Burum
School-age Caregiver
Ms. Gwen Burum is the school-age caregiver. She is a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. Ms. Burum holds a certificate from the Tennessee State Board of Vocational Education for completing over 1400 hours of instruction in childcare. She has accepted the challenges associated with working with elementary aged children.
