SCARBORO DAY CARE CENTER
SCHEDULE AND CURRICULUM
Schedule
The daily schedule at the Scarboro Day Care center is arranged so that
children are engaged in a variety of educational and recreational activities.
Children need a balanced schedule that includes time for instruction, time for
free play, time for motor skills development, and time for rest. A nutritious
breakfast and lunch are served each day along with healthy snacks. To view the

Curriculum
The Scarboro Day Care Curriculum is presented through a
variety of Learning Centers. The staff believes that in order to achieve maximum
usage from equipment and materials in the center, these items must be organized
into a functional setting. The center's clasrooms should be a laboratory where
children are encouraged to handle materials, to examine, to experiment, and to
create. Setting up a classroom into learning centers provides this kind of
setting as well as provides for individual and small group work where children
learn by doing.
The staff and the children plan together to determine how
the centers can be used most effectively. To maintain interest and enthusiasm
among the children, materials and activities in the centers are changed
frequently. Some centers are short-term due to the study of a holiday or special
unit or due to a special interest among the children.
The Learning
Centers at the Scarboro Day Care are where the children "do their work" and
learn through first-hand experiences. Each center has specific objectives. The
activities and materials within a center cover the range from simple to
difficult and are planned to meet the individual needs of the
children.

children at the center actively participate:
