Dear Educator,
As the new school year starts, so does the Smoky Mountain Reading Council. SMRC is a local reading organization that is affiliated with the state reading organization, Tennesse Reading Association (TRA) and the International Reading Association (IRA). Consider joining us and please share this information with your colleagues.
Our local council has 3 general programs during the year. It also sponsors projects such as For the Love of Reading with local personalities reading their favorite stories; Read To Me which encourages reading by handing out books and bookmarks to area hospitals; and Celebrate Literacy which is a book-writing opportunity for students. Members will receive the Tennessee Reading Association's publication.
Below you will find a link to the membership form. To become a member, please print out the form, make out a check to SMRC for $15 ($10 for interns) and bring it to the first meeting on October 11th at Gibbs Elementary School. You may also send it to June Frear or Jo Ann Guidry. The addresses are on the form.
Non-members will pay $5 a meeting and will not receive the Tennessee Reading Association's publication.
Newsletters and posters are sent to each school. If you need more, please feel free to make copies.

Would you like to be a member of the International Reading Association? Basic membership dues are $36.
