Fountain City Town Hall, a non-profit community group, was founded in 1972 with the mission to serve, protect, and assist in the development of our neighborhoods. The emphasis of the organization is to avert problems by actively supporting our residential communities, advocating controlled commercial development, monitoring city government, and keeping residents informed on pertinent issues.

Through its Board of Directors, committee groups, and the general membership, Town Hall monitors and addresses City Council, the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC), and the board of zoning appeals. Town Hall takes a proactive role in working with these agencies, as well as with other community groups, to press for sensible, effective legislation and the careful interpretation of statutes and policies to ensure the integrity of our community.

Additionally, Town Hall organizes "Honor Fountain City Day", each Memorial Day, to celebrate the contributions made to the community by citizens, past and present, and to recognize our veterans for their service. This is the largest community event of its type in Knoxville and it has become a focal point for our Fountain City community spirit. Town Hall also co-sponsors the Christmas tree lighting at the Fountain City Lake in cooperation with the local Lions Club. Having spearheaded the effort to save the north end of Fountain City Park from being sold as excess city property, Town Hall maintains the "Trolley Turnaround" area for the enjoyment of all.

To list some of Town Hall's recent accomplishments, the organization supported residents in zoning issues along Tazewell Pike, Holbrook Road, North Broadway, Ridgewood Road, and Adair Gardens. Town Hall supported BRINK, Better Roads In North Knoxville, in its efforts to improve our roads and worked to assist with plans for the Broadway/ I-640 interchange. A committee met with MPC and Councilperson Malone to begin a process for establishing Neighborhood Conservation Zones throughout the city. Town Hall addressed the Variance Board concerning sign problems, contributed to the Lion's Club rebuilding, provided a public forum for discussing issues, presented monthly programs of community interest, and recognized deserving individuals and businesses with annual awards.
