TROOP 101 NEWSLETTER

TROOP MEETING LOCATION - WHILE THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IS BEING REMODELD, THE TROOP WILL MEET AT THE METHODIST CHURCH FROM 7:30 - 9:00.

Troop Committee - Troop Committee will meet on 2/9/09 (at 6:30) and 3/9/09(at 6:30).  All parents are welcome to attend.

NEW SCOUT DISTRICT - Most likely our scouting district in the Great Smokey Mountain Council (GSMC) is being reorganized.  Roane County, Loudon County, and the Oakdale area of Morgan County will form a new scout district.  We are currently in the Catoosa District.  The name of the new district is not determined. 

Troop Necktie - The troop is planning to get a troop necktie.  The necktie design has not been determined.  Start thinking about a necktie design.

Leader/Scout Business - If a scout needs to meet with a leader to discuss any topic, please try to talk to the leader during the meeting time rather than waiting until the meeting is over any everyone wants to go home.

National Youth Leader Training (NYLT) - NYLT for scouts, which is one week at Camp Buck Toms, occurs in early June with signup in the near future.  If you are interested and meet the entrance requirements (see GSMC web page), contact Mary Galloway or Mark Wise.

Daytime Christmas Tree Sales - Mr. Dailey may not be able to sell Christmas trees next year during the daytime as he has done for many years.  Our sincere appreciation needs to be extended to him for this service. If anyone knows of another person who is willing to help next year, please tell one of the leaders.

Feb 27 to Mar 1 - Winter Lodge @ Pellissippi; Mar 21/22 - Backpacking @ Savage Gulf; Apr 24/25/26 - Pioneering @ Dailey's Farm; May 1/2/3 - Spring Camporee; June 15-19 - Summer Camp; Jul 17/18/19 - Rafting Ocoee/Hiawassee; Aug 8/9 - Canoe Iron Hill Island; Sept ?? - Fall Camporee;

Oct 9/10/11 - Campout at Battle of Blue Springs reenactment;

Nov 14/15 - Backpacking @TBD.

Advancement - No rank advancements so the Court of Honor is being cancelled this quarter.
