        In Memoriam:

William J. (Bill) York         Bill joined the Tellico Village Kiwanis Club on Feb 17, 2004
July 12, 1935 - July 24, 2010        
                                                                     

YORK, WILLIAM JOHN "BILL" - age 75 of Loudon, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Fort Loudoun Medical Center. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Tellico Village, where he was a member of the Sanctuary and Handbell choirs and various committees. He was an active member of the Tellico Village Kiwanis Club and the Fort Loudoun Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary. He also enjoyed singing with the Sound of Tennessee Men's Barber Shop Chorus. Bill spent 9 years as a cartographer for the US Air Force. He also spent 39 years with the US Army as a Director of Data Processing and Information Systems. During his career, he was awarded the highest civilian honor for an incident in which he "took charge and employed crisis management" to rectify a serious situation. He was a big-hearted man who laughed a lot and loved a lot harder. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marjorie Nelson York; five children, and numerous grandchildren,

We raised nearly $12,000 for East Tennessee Children's Hospital, and both
parents and children had a ball.  Special thanks go to T. V. Kiwanians
Chuck Hitch & Ray Scott, who spent many hours in planning, organizing,
advertising, and securing sponsors for this event.
