And now, here’s ALL THAT JAZZ!

It was the mid 1960’s and three out of every four Motown releases made the charts. The stars were polished by Motown's "Motown U pros" who taught them how to dress, stand, wear makeup, and do the motions with style, poise and grace. The history of Motown is a string of lists -- lists of hits, lists of stars, and lists of triumphs and tragedies.
Tonight Drum Majors Sarah Galligan and Deanna Moreland will serve as your DJ’s as they spin hits from Motown Legends Aretha Franklin, The Temptations and The Jackson Five.
Live tonight on the drums is Drum Captain Lee Lambert, Lead Instrumentalist is Band Captain Christina Inman, screaming on the trumpet is Seth Walker and leading the backups are Head Majorette Nikki Norman and Flag Captains Amy Woods and Emily Enloe.

“Big Band Salute”
It was 1942 and the United States was at war in the Pacific and Europe. Supporting the many servicemen and women was a dedicated working crew of men and women that supplied munitions, built tanks, airplanes, and trucks and kept the country running. The talk in the factories, the banks, the stores and the street was war.
It was in the dance halls where people let go. It was the music and the dancing that helped them forget about war.
Tonight the West High School Band brings some of those tunes back as we salute the Big Bands of the 40’s. The band features Satin Doll by Duke Ellington, Let’s Dance as played by Benny Goodman and Count Basie’s April in Paris.
Tonight’s soloists include:

“Beatles: Songs of the Times!”
The most important and influential band in the history of rock ‘n roll, the Beatles, changed popular music forever...opening new possibilities of musical expression that countless other musicians and songwriters have emulated. The fresh, engaging songs and extraordinary personal charisma of the Beatles attracted an enormous and enthusiastic fan following. Those scenes of pandemonium and wild fan adulation became known as Beatlemania. When the Beatles came to the United States for their first tour in 1964, their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show drew a record audience of more than 73.5 million, at that time the largest ever to view an entertainment program.
Tonight the West High Marching Band will transport you to Liverpool, England for a special tour of several famous Beatles melodies beginning with Magical Mystery Tour, A Hard Day’s Night, Hey Jude, Eleanor Rigby, and Yesterday.
